The Best Grandfatha

My grandfather is the best in the land.
At 83 years old, he did a full headstand—
Held it for twenty seconds, that’s a true fact.
When we tried to copy, half ah we break we back.
Your grandfather couldn’t betta than mine.
He used to tell stories all the time—
About his days in Guyana, in public health,
And why Black people must gather wealth.
Your grandfather couldn’t betta than mine.
He’s the greatest man I’ve ever seen.
Had a sweet tooth for pine tarts and ice cream.
Always boas’y when we played our games—
“This game don’t know family,” he’d boldly proclaim.
Your grandfather couldn’t betta than mine.
I’m convinced—he outshines the rest.
Seven children, eleven grands, twelve great-grands blessed.
I don’t care what nobody say or see,
He was the best grandfatha to me.
