Daddy, I know I’ve tested your grace,
Stood in defiance, took up space.
But don’t let my stance ever misconstrue—
My respect runs deep, and it's owed to you.
You stepped into fatherhood at just twenty years,
Faced manhood early—fought through your fears.
While others ran, you faced the flame,
You didn’t fold, you defined your name.
Today you stand among your peers,
But none walked through those early years.
You did it young, before your prime,
You gave your days, you gave your time.
I watched the hours stretch and bend,
Straight time, overtime—days with no end.
Double shifts for scraps and cents,
All to cover life’s expense.
I saw you trade your youth for bread,
Worked through silence, sweat, and dread.
And though I never heard you say,
Could it be love that made you stay?
Many a weaker men have walked away—
But you showed up, come work or fray.
Whether for praise or pride or fun,
You did all that had to be done.
So no, you weren’t perfect—none of us are,
But presence alone made you a star.
To do what’s right, when it's no delight—
That’s manhood forged in darkest night.
So on this day, I lift my say:
You earned your peace in every way.
Enjoy your throne, your rest, your grace—
A soldier in life’s hardest place.
Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your fight.
Happy Father’s Day, Daddy—
Enjoy your light.
